On Tap Today: Expiring Lockups, Quiet Periods in Spotlight

 

Expect talk about tech as the quiet period expires on three communications companies.

Sonus Networks (SONS), a provider of voice infrastructure products, and Stanford Microdevices (SMDI), which sells radio components used primarily in the wireless industry, will come off their quiet periods today.

Broadband technology firm Centillium Communications (CTLM) and Universal Compression Holdings (UCO), offering natural gas compression services, reached the end of their quiet periods on Sunday. The two companies made their trading debuts on the same day last month, and both closed above their initial public offering prices. Centillium shares finished up 3 7/8 at 22 7/8, while Universal Compression shares edged 1/16 above their $22 offering price.

Also during the weekend, lockups on Maxygen (MAXY)and Tibco Software (TIBX) expired. Goldman Sachs, one of three brokerage firms reporting this week, is the lead underwriter for both.
