Let's Dedicate This One to Tiger

By now, Tiger might have a 22-shot lead in the U.S. Open, and if so, I'm dead wrong. But, here's the thing: I still think his game has a huge flaw. And that flaw is that he swings too hard with his driver at times. He did that at The Master's, blowing it through the fairway on the closing par 5s, thereby denying himself the decent eagle opportunities he needed to win. And on Friday, I saw him doing it again, only to have his short game bail him out.

But, the funny thing is, he doesn't even need the distance. Shoot, he hits his 2-iron 250-plus!

So, look for this prediction: If it's close down the stretch, Tiger blows it by nailing one through the fairway with a driver, winding up either in the water, out of bounds, or in the nasty, gnarly rough. Goodbye, U.S. Open. Hello, missed opportunity.

OK, there. I'm on record. And I'm also on record with these charts below. Some Tigers below. But also a few bears...

Think I'm wrong about El Tigre? Think I'm right, and you picked -- gasp! -- a European to win? I welcome one and all to technicalforum@thestreet.com. I'll be the one hitting that new Nike ball!
