UAL's Pilots Say 'No Way' to US Airways Acquisition

The pilots union at UAL's (UAL Quote) United Airlines said it does not support the airline's proposed $4.3 billion acquisition of US Airways (U Quote), a move that could hinder the deal. A spokesman for the union said seniority is the main sticking point and that the group "cannot at this time support the transaction".

While a pilot veto will not actually stop the deal from being completed, it would be easier to integrate the two airlines with pilot support, according to some analysts.

Boise Cascade (BCC Quote) said it will make staggered cutbacks at several of its western U.S. sawmills during June and July, due to a downturn in the lumber market. The company said the cumulative effect of the actions will approximate 8 1/2 weeks of production and affect 550 employees.

Genentech(DNA Quote) said that the Food and Drug Administration has given approval to a heart attack drug called Tenecteplase, which is used to open clogged arteries.
