Nasdaq Selloff Coverage

Traders were already antsy about the coming week's trading, when word came down over the weekend that antitrust negotiations between the government and Microsoft (MSFT) had broken down and that a judge would issue a ruling soon.

But traders probably didn't have this in mind.

The Nasdaq struggled all day Monday, but just as a cow gets more nervous as the cattleman prepares his branding iron, the jitters increased as the market close -- and the judge's ruling -- approached. And it looks like those jitters continue.

Still, theories abound on the reason for the selloff -- was it in sympathy to the giant software firm, or a long-overdue correction that was merely exacerbated by Mister Softee?

TheStreet.com takes a look at these issues in ongoing coverage.
