The collapse of tech and growth stocks has put value funds back in vogue. That's because bargain-hunting value managers' typically modest appetite for pricey tech shares has helped them weather the mercurial sector's tumble far better than their tech-heavy growth peers. The average large-cap value fund, for instance, is down only 1%, compared with a 38% free fall for the average big-cap growth fund. Large-, mid- and small-cap value funds raked in almost $7 billion last month, while growth funds suffered net redemptions, according to Boston fund consultancy Financial Research Corp.
