3D Systems Drops on Warning

3D Systems (TDSC Quote) was down 17.4% in early trading after the company warned it would post a second-quarter loss of 3 to 5 cents a share, on revenue of $24.5 million to $25.5 million.

Analysts were expecting a profit of 19 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial/First Call.

3D, which makes systems to produce three-dimensional objects from computer data, blamed its results on weak sales to OEMs as a result of a slowdown in the economy.

The company said it expects to return to profitability in the second half.
