JDS Uniphase Meets Estimates, but Cuts Guidance, Jobs

 

JDS Uniphase (JDSU Quote) jumped the gun this morning, releasing its quarterly numbers a couple of days early.

The company, which was originally set to report Thursday, also announced a major restructuring plan.

JDS Uniphase reported fiscal third-quarter earnings in line with analysts' estimates of 14 cents a share, but the company warned that it would miss its fiscal fourth-quarter targets. JDS also plans to cut 5,000 jobs and sharply reduce costs.
