Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (DTG Quote - Cramer on DTG - Stock Picks) beat Wall Street's fourth-quarter estimates by four cents, but projected that earnings for the upcoming period will come in well below expectations.
The car rental company earned $6 million, or 24 cents a share, in the latest fourth quarter, down from $7 million, or 28 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The six analysts consulted by
First Call/Thomson Financial arrived at a consensus estimate of 20 cents a share for the latest quarter.
The company expects the first quarter of 2001 to yield earnings of 30 cents to 35 cents a share. First Call currently has an estimate of 47 cents, but that's based on only one analyst.
Revenue for Dollar Thrifty, which is based in Tulsa, Okla., rose to $239.4 million, up from $228.5 million last year.
