Halliburton (HAL Quote - Cramer on HAL - Stock Picks) beat Wall Street's fourth-quarter estimates by two cents, as the company's energy services group reported revenue that rose 22% from the year-ago period.
The oil services company reported earnings of $123 million, or 28 cents a share, compared with $76 million, or 17 cents a share, excluding items in both periods.
First Call/Thomson Financial polled 19 analysts, who arrived at a consensus estimate of 26 cents for the quarter.
Revenue for the fourth quarter rose to $3.19 billion from $3.03 billion in the year-ago period.
Halliburton closed at $40.26 on the
New York Stock Exchange, having gained 36 cents, or 0.9%, on the day.
