Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Loews Corporation (NYSE: L) today announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its wholly-owned subsidiary, HighMount Exploration & Production, LLC. The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed before the end of the year. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
In the second quarter, Loews recognized an after-tax impairment charge of
$167 million in relation to HighMount. Future period results may include adjustments to the impairment charge, reflecting the final sale price and transaction costs.
