Sam’s Club Opens New Wichita Location

Stocks in this article: WMT

Sam’s Club will open a new club at 3084 N. Maize Road in Wichita on Thursday, July 17. The grand opening ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. with a ribbon cutting celebration with Mayor Carl Brewer and District Five Councilman Jeff Longwell. Community grants to local nonprofit organizations will also be awarded.

“We are excited to welcome members into this new club, built with the community in mind,” said Club Manager Caleb Shannon. “The Wichita community has been extremely supportive of Sam’s Club over the years and we look forward to continuing that tradition.”

To staff the new Wichita club, Sam’s Club has hired more than 180 new associates. Sam’s Club, and parent company Walmart, gave more than $8 million to non-profits in the state of Kansas in 2013. In that giving spirit, Wichita associates selected several local organizations to receive more than $18,000 in grants, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Kansas
  • American Legion Post #73
  • Camp Quality USA Incorporated
  • Kansas Firefighters Museum and Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial Inc
  • Maize Education Foundation
  • Maize South High School Booster Club
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc
  • Wichita Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
  • Northwest YMCA of Wichita

The new membership warehouse club will give members and small business owners a new, convenient location to access incredible savings on quality products, including the national and local brands they expect, as well as some unexpected finds. The new club will also feature a variety of members-only amenities, including a fresh bakery, a tire and battery center, a café and a fuel station.

Grand Opening Special Events and Savings

Sam’s Club will showcase a variety of special events inside the club on opening day including products Atlas Storm Shelters, Kansas City’s IXL Elite Hydration and Cheddar Cheese Wheel Carving.

Members will discover savings on a number of outstanding items Grand Opening weekend, including*:

  • Hand cut in-club, USDA Choice Ribeye Steak for $7.98/lb
  • HP® 15.6” Notebook for $299
  • VIZIO 50” Class LED Smart HDTV for $528

New MasterCard brings additional savings to Wichita members

Sam’s Club recently became the first U.S. retailer to actively implement chip-enabled technology. The company also introduced a new credit card which has an embedded chip designed to better protect credit cardholders from potential fraudulent activity. The card also features a cash back program giving members the opportunity to earn cash back on all purchases, up to $5,000 per year. The Sam’s Club 5-3-1 cash back program is now available to qualifying Sam’s Club members.

Quality products and services help small businesses and busy families

Sam’s Club is expanding upon its unique, shopper-friendly experience with this Wichita club. Members can rely on fresh produce, quality meats and home meal solutions, while small business owners can find office supplies, vending machine snacks and paper goods. Restaurant owners and caterers will find access to quality items most often used by foodservice businesses.
