HONG KONG and SAN JOSE, July 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UTStarcom (Nasdaq:UTSI), a global telecommunications infrastructure provider, announced today that it has bolstered its footprint in the United States with the opening of a new Silicon Valley office as its ramps up its sales and marketing efforts to US telecommunications carriers and cable service providers.A photo accompanying this release is available at http://www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/prs/?pkgid=26460 The company has moved staff and resources from its Fremont, California office to a larger office in San Jose. The new office, which formally opened in June, will play a central role in UTStarcom's ambitions to market its technology to tier-1 and tier-2 telecom carriers and cable multiple system operators, those with the most expansive networks, who are increasingly adopting new Internet Protocol-based network technology to offer advanced voice and data services. At its opening, the office will house an R&D and product testing lab as well as product demonstrations and displays. In time, it will also include service and support teams dedicated to US customers. Tim Ti, Senior Vice President for Advanced Network Architecture, relocated to the United States at the end of 2013 to head the new office. He will oversee locally based engineering support, sales and account management personnel. Mr. Ti has over 20 years of experience in R&D and engineering management, and earned a master of science in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University.
