Celebrating Diversity and Supporting LGBT Employees
United has long supported programs and activities that promote LGBT awareness, inclusion and equality. In August, the company will serve as the official airline of the 2014 Gay Games in
– the largest international sports and culture festival in the world open to all adult participants. United also has partnerships with a wide range of LGBT organizations, including the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce,
and the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association.
United has earned multiple honors for its efforts to promote diversity and inclusion at the airline and in the community. Earlier this year, United was named a "Best Place to Work" by the Human Rights Campaign and achieved a 100-percent rating in the organization's 2014 Corporate Equality Index – the third consecutive year the airline garnered a perfect score from the prominent civil rights group. United also received the Business Leadership Award from
, the state's oldest and largest LGBT advocacy group, and has been recognized by Work Life Matters magazine as a leader for LGBT equality.
Dedicated to building an inclusive workplace, United recently launched an employee-run LGBT business resource group. The group will help increase awareness and understanding of LGBT issues at United, while fostering opportunities for LGBT employees and recruiting diverse talent to the airline.
