Ford will offer the technology to other companies and industries, including competitor auto makers should they choose to license it. The automaker said the system "enhances protection" for passengers, with children and the elderly benefitting most. In a press release Ford said that wider adoption of the technology could lead to safer travel and could mitigate injuries in other forms of transportation including military vehicles, aircraft, and boats.

- F's revenue growth trails the industry average of 22.2%. Since the same quarter one year prior, revenues slightly increased by 0.6%. This growth in revenue does not appear to have trickled down to the company's bottom line, displayed by a decline in earnings per share.
