The Central Europe, Russia and Turkey Fund, Inc. (NYSE:CEE), The European Equity Fund, Inc. (NYSE:EEA), and The New Germany Fund, Inc. (NYSE:GF) (each, a “Fund,” and, collectively, the “Funds”) announced today that the Annual Meeting of Stockholders for each Fund will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern time on June 19, 2014 at 60 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005. At the Meeting, stockholders of the Funds will consider the election of Directors and certain other routine matters. In addition, stockholders of EEA will be asked to consider a proposal to change the Fund’s fundamental investment objective from seeking “long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity or equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries in Europe that utilize the Euro currency” to seeking “long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity or equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries that are members of the European Union” and to make corresponding changes to the Fund’s fundamental investment policy that “under normal circumstances at least 80% of EEA’s assets (plus 80% of any assets funded with leverage) will be invested in securities of issuers domiciled in countries that are members of the European Union”. If EEA’s stockholders approve the changes, EEA’s benchmark will change from the MSCI EMU Index to the MSCI Europe Index. EEA expects that ordinarily substantially all of its assets will be invested in securities of issuers domiciled in European countries. Details of the proposals will be set forth in a proxy statement expected to be mailed to stockholders later this month. Holders of shares of common stock of record of the Funds at the close of business on May 12, 2014 are entitled to vote at the Meeting and any postponements or adjournments thereof.
