Valley Financial Corporation Ranked In Top 200 Community Banks By American Banker Magazine

ROANOKE, Va., May 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Valley Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:VYFC), parent holding company for Valley Bank, was ranked #102 on the list of the top performing community banks and thrifts in the nation by American Banker Magazine. This year's Top 200 Ranking was based upon the three-year average Return on Equity for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. The ranking included all exchange-traded banks and thrifts with less than $2 Billion in total assets as of December 31, 2013 that had a three-year average ROE of 7.8% or higher. There were 851 institutions across the nation fitting the criteria. This is the second year in a row that Valley Financial Corporation made the Top 200 list and the Company's ranking improved from #138 last year to #102 this year.

Valley Financial's three-year average Return on Equity was 10.41% compared to the median for all 851 institutions of 5.70%. The Company's Return on Equity for the most recent year ended December 31, 2013 was 11.06% and for the 1 st Quarter of 2014, it was 11.24%.
