Mattel Named One Of America’s Top Five Corporate Citizens

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) has been recognized as one of America’s Best Corporate Citizens, in an annual report issued this week by Corporate Responsibility Magazine.

The worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of toys and family products received the highest honors in the toy industry in CR Magazine’s annual rankings, which recognized Mattel as the fifth most socially responsible public company in United States.

“For nearly 70 years, Mattel has been bringing joy to the lives of children and parents around the world,” said Mattel Chairman and CEO Bryan G. Stockton. “Giving back to the communities in which we operate, treating our incredibly passionate and creative employees with the dignity and respect they deserve and recognizing that sustainable business practices are not only good for the environment, but also good for our business, are core commitments shared by every member of the Mattel team. It’s gratifying to see this commitment recognized in such a special way.”

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens List documents 298 data points of disclosure and performance measures—harvested from publicly available information in seven categories: environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and philanthropy. The list ranks the Russell 1000 Index.

2014 marks the sixth consecutive appearance for Mattel on the annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List.
