CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Park Sterling Bank (Nasdaq:PSTB) announced today that it has released the latest version of its mobile banking app that expands the services customers can access on their mobile or tablet device. Working with Austin, Texas-based mobile app developer Malauzai Software, the bank now offers customers the Picture Pay mobile photo bill pay solution and Debit Card Management.
Picture Pay™, developed by Malauzai and Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Allied Payment Network, allows customers using Park Sterling's mobile banking app to complete a bill payment in three simple steps: take a photo of the bill statement, confirm the amount to be paid and submit the payment to the financial institution. The service works much like the popular remote deposit capture feature that lets consumers deposit a check via picture. Park Sterling is the first bank in its market to offer the feature, and one of few banks its size in the country to launch mobile photo bill pay.
The bank has also introduced Debit Card On/Off, a portion of Debit Card Management that enables customers to turn their bank-issued debit card on and off with the swipe of a finger. If desired, a Park Sterling mobile user can temporarily deactivate their card between transactions, significantly decreasing the chances of the card being used fraudulently. The functionality is also very useful when a debit card has gone missing, letting customers turn it off until it is found.Park Sterling's mobile app is available to account holders free of charge. It also includes the ability to view balances, deposit checks, view account activity, view recent check images, transfer funds, set up security alerts and locate a branch or ATM. The app can be downloaded on iPhones, iPads and Google Android devices.
