Exar Edges Lower on Outlook
Communications chipmaker Exar (EXAR Quote) was down 0.7% in early afternoon. The company posted third-quarter earnings of 21 cents per share, beating the Street's estimate of 20 cents and up sharply from the year-ago 7 cents. But Exar said its next quarter's earnings and revenue would be about flat with the third quarter's as the semiconductor industry experiences a slowdown.
