Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:
AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that Wade McDaniel, vice president of supply chain solutions, Avnet Velocity, will be a featured speaker at the Supply Chain & Transportation USA conference. The event will take place March 17-20, 2014, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
During his session,
“Near-shoring and the ‘New Normal,’” McDaniel will discuss why an increasing number of companies are moving their product manufacturing facilities closer to end markets. He will also help attendees evaluate whether near-shoring is the right move for their organizations, the factors to consider and best practices for implementing a successful near-shoring strategy.
“Rising transportation costs, physical and political risks, as well as the location of customers, manufacturing and supply clusters are key considerations for adopting near-shoring as an effective business strategy,” said McDaniel. “However, organizations need to carefully evaluate each factor when determining whether near-shoring makes sense for their business. When executed well, bringing your operations closer to home can result in significant cost savings and improved customer satisfaction.”
McDaniel leads the Avnet Velocity team’s efforts in designing and implementing supply chain solutions for Avnet and its customers. His expertise includes supply chain engineering, supply chain finance, warehouse management and worldwide transportation logistics. He has more than 25 years of supply chain experience in the high-tech industry. In 2008, McDaniel was named to
Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s Pros to Know list.
Supply Chain & Transportation USA conference offers supply chain professionals the opportunity to participate in educational sessions addressing the latest supply chain trends, technologies and innovations.
