Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) is pleased to announce the promotion of two executives to new leadership roles. The promotions reflect NU’s mission to structure its operations in a way that will best serve its approximately 3.6 million customers across New England.
Robert Bersak has been promoted to NU Chief Regulatory Counsel. Bersak is based at Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH) in Manchester, NH, and will continue to serve there in the positions of Assistant Secretary for both PSNH and Northeast Utilities Service Company. He is a member of the Bar in New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey and Ohio. In addition to his work at NU, Bersak served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel after 33 years. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Ron Smith has been promoted to NU Vice President of Internal Audit and Security. Smith, a 30-year veteran of NU, is based in Berlin, CT. He previously served as Director of Internal Audit and Security and has held various management and Information Technology positions within Internal Audit and Corporate Accounting. Smith is also a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Fraud Examiner and earned his Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics degree from the University of Hartford.
