Apple Loves The Beatles and Now So Will You

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Apple (AAPL - Get Report) loves The Beatles. So much so that it's dedicating a whole channel through Apple TV, called The Beatles, to the iconic British band.

The new channel is being released as America celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, which occurred on Feb. 9, 1964.

The channel's launch on Monday features Beatles music content from iTunes as well as a showing of the group's 14-minute TV performance, which will be available for streaming for a limited time, according to Apple Insider.

The channel also promotes The Beatles' U.S. albums, which users can purchase for the first time on iTunes, Apple Insider said.

Apple and The Beatles have a long history. Besides Steve Jobs' love for the band, Apple, the tech giant, was in a long dispute with the group's record label, Apple Records, over the Apple brand, according to 9to5Mac. Beatles music didn't come to iTunes until 2010, approximately seven years after the music service was launched and three years after a settlement of the dispute.

Of course, The Beatles on iTunes was a success, at one point making up about a quarter of the top 200 songs on iTunes, 9to5Mac said.
