The Heart-Check Food Certification Program, which began in 1995, is one of the longest running established food certification programs. The American Heart Association® has a goal of improving the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent in the year 2020 through an emphasis on healthy eating and regular physical activity. The Heart-Check mark identifies for shoppers foods that can be the building blocks to a heart-healthy diet.
