John Glenney said that Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) had a map of supercharging stations and he was obsessed with that. In a interview with San Jose Mercury News, he said "I knew that as soon as the cross-country route was finished, that other people would try it and I may not be the first. I wanted to be the first."
Last year, Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) battery was questioned when a New York Times reviewer mentioned that Model S ran out of juice between charging stations during a test drive, but that was later cleared up by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Tesla added few more lines to its Cross Country Rally blog, saying "Not only did the Cross Country Rally team manage the trip from Los Angeles to New York City in just 76 and a half hours, it also recorded the lowest charge time for an electric vehicle traveling across the country — a feat that is now being assessed for recognition as a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS achievement."
