has been appointed to the role of Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately.
Mr. Simpson brings extensive technology startup experience along with in-depth mobile and cloud expertise. He joins AVG from Innovation Partners at InterDigital Communications where he led corporate development and partnering. Previously, he held the role of Chief of Innovation at Mozilla where he spearheaded the move to mobile and cloud. During his tenure at Mozilla, he added a secure privacy protecting identity system into Firefox OS for smartphones. Mr. Simpson was also the President and CEO of Ditech Networks and CTO of Zi Corporation, developer of mobile and text messaging software.
AVG appointed Mr. Simpson to this newly created role to help execute and align AVG's strategy with market innovation, corporate development, strategic industry partnerships and co-development opportunities. Mr. Simpson will drive execution of AVG's strategic initiatives on privacy, performance and protection with a mobile focus.
