(NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the GDL 39 3D, a portable ADS-B and GPS receiver which adds simultaneous display of aircraft attitude information (pitch and roll), alongside rich, interactive mapping, traffic, and weather within the Garmin Pilot™ application. The GDL 39 3D also features advanced traffic awareness, including patent-pending TargetTrend™ relative motion technology and subscription-free weather.

The GDL 39 3D portable ADS-B receiver is a simple and economical solution for pilots who want to receive the benefits of ADS-B In and back-up attitude information. The GDL 39 3D combines a dual link ADS-B receiver which conveniently supplies ADS-B traffic, weather, and WAAS GPS data to Bluetooth
® compatible iOS and Android devices. Garmin Pilot conveniently enables the display of back-up attitude information and moving map page with weather and traffic overlay while in split screen mode, so it’s easy to view flight information alongside attitude information simultaneously.
In addition to back-up attitude information, pilots also receive subscription-free weather. Flight Information Service-Broadcast (FIS-B) weather is broadcast using the FAA’s 978 MHz UAT uplink and is similar to the existing weather products available today by commercial satellite weather providers. Weather products include NEXRAD imagery, METARs, TAFs, winds and temperatures aloft, PIREPs, NOTAMs, and more.
