The Dow component that led the way higher today was Boeing (NYSE:BA), which sported a $1.31 gain (+0.9%) bringing the stock to $142.13. Volume for Boeing ended the day at four million shares traded vs. an average daily trading volume of 4.2 million shares.

Boeing has a market cap of $105.59 billion and is part of the industrial goods sector and aerospace/defense industry. Shares are up 3.2% year to date as of Wednesday's close. The stock's dividend yield sits at 2.1%.

The company has a P/E ratio of 25, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.

TheStreet Ratings rates Boeing as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, good cash flow from operations, solid stock price performance, growth in earnings per share and increase in net income. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows low profit margins.

Holding the Dow back today was Goldman Sachs Group (NYSE:GS), which lagged the broader Dow index with a $1.04 decline (-0.6%) bringing the stock to $177.40. This single loss lowered the Dow Jones Industrial Average by 7.87 points or roughly accounting for 43.7% of the Dow's overall loss. Volume for Goldman Sachs Group ended the day at 2.1 million shares traded vs. an average daily trading volume of 2.9 million shares.

Goldman Sachs Group has a market cap of $80.81 billion and is part of the financial sector and financial services industry. Shares are up 0.7% year to date as of Wednesday's close. The stock's dividend yield sits at 1.2%.

The company has a P/E ratio of 10.8, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.

TheStreet Ratings rates Goldman Sachs Group as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, attractive valuation levels, expanding profit margins, growth in earnings per share and notable return on equity. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows weak operating cash flow.
