Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPB) and Spectrum Brands, Inc. (“Spectrum Brands”) today announced that Spectrum Brands has closed on a new $215 million U.S. term loan due September 2019 (the “U.S. Term Loan”) and a new €225 million Euro term loan due September 2019 (the “Euro Term Loan”, and together with the U.S. Term Loan, the “Term Loans”).
The U.S. Term Loan was issued at 99.875% and bears an interest rate of LIBOR plus 2.75%, with a LIBOR floor of 0.75%. The Euro Term Loan was issued at 99.875% and bears an interest rate of EURIBOR plus 3.00%, with a EURIBOR floor of 0.75%.
Net proceeds from the Term Loans were used to replace Spectrum Brands’ existing $513 million U.S. term loan B due December 2019. The U.S. Term Loan will be combined with the Company’s existing $300 million U.S. term loan C due September 2019.
The Company said the refinancing will result in a lower cost of capital as well as better alignment of its debt structure with its geographic cash flows.
