Redwood City, Calif., Dec. 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of
data integration software, today announced that Gartner, Inc., a leading IT research and advisory firm, has positioned Informatica as a leader in its December 2013 Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology report.
The complete report, including the quadrant graphic, is available at:
Gartner analysts wrote in the Data Masking Technology report that, "A growing number of enterprises are taking a strategic approach to adopting data masking," and that "new use cases in data masking implementation have emerged and are evolving rapidly: DDM [dynamic data masking] and SDM [static data masking] for big data platforms, and the use of data masking in cloud access security brokers to address data security in the cloud platform."
The report recommends that enterprises, "Make data masking technologies and best practices an integral part of the enterprise's SLC [software life cycle] and data management processes. Data masking is not just another sort of data manipulation. It is becoming an essential part of the SLC and data management."
"We believe the positioning of Informatica as a leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology, for the second year in a row, reflects our continued commitment to developing innovative, scalable and high-performance solutions, which dynamically mask sensitive production data from unauthorized access and mask nonproduction data," said Amit Walia, senior vice president and general manager, ILM, Informatica. "IT organizations can address data privacy regulations and enterprise-wide data security mandates with
Informatica Data Masking solutions that can easily and effectively be extended to big data platforms - such as Hadoop, Teradata and Netezza."
Informatica Data Masking products, including
Informatica Dynamic Data Masking and
Informatica Persistent Data Masking, are part of the company's comprehensive Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) suite of offerings. Product milestones in 2013 include the introduction of
Dynamic Data Masking for Hadoop, which delivers policy-based data security for applications running on Hadoop to address big data security concerns, and
