Antec Down on Outlook

Antec(ANTC Quote) was down 9.6% midmorning. The company -- one of several telecom equipment makers hit recently when AT&T Broadband(T Quote) delayed purchases -- lowered earnings estimates, saying it now expects a 9-cent to 13-cent per share loss in the fourth quarter and a profit of 60 cents to 70 cents for 2001. The Street had been expecting a 14-cent per share profit in the fourth quarter and earnings of $1.11 in 2001. Separately, Antec said changed market conditions will force it to come up with a new financing arrangement for its planned purchase of Nortel's(NT Quote) interest in Arris Interactive.
