ConAgra Foods, Inc., (NYSE: CAG), one of North America's leading food companies, today responded to the proposed decision of the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara in its decision in a 13-year old case, The People of the State of California vs. Atlantic Richfield Company, ConAgra Grocery Products Company, E.I. Du Pont De Nemours and Company, NL Industries, Inc. and The Sherwin-Williams Company:
ConAgra Foods vehemently disagrees with the decision and will appeal. ConAgra Foods is absolutely not an appropriate defendant and was never in the paint business. As a food maker who employs thousands of people in California, we believe this case is an unfortunate example of extreme overreach.
