This is the 23 rd year that Northrop Grumman has recognized its suppliers with World Class Team awards for supporting the SEBP program, which strives to ensure that capable small businesses including small disadvantaged, woman-owned, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned, historically underutilized business zones, AbilityOne organizations, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender concerns and Historically Black Colleges/Universities and Minority Institutions, receive the maximum practicable subcontracting opportunities on all major programs.

The extensive review of suppliers began last summer with awards given to companies demonstrating exceptional support and commitment to the SEBP goals and objectives using criteria such as product, service, quality and record. Other considerations included demonstrated delivery performance, outstanding program support, superior technical achievement, and reported cost performance/competitiveness and/or continuous process improvement.

"We recognize the critical role our small business suppliers play in helping us meet our aggressive SEBP goals, and in applying innovation, affordability and top performance to meet the increasingly more challenging global security needs of our customers," said Harry Q. H. Lee II, vice president, Corporate Contracts, Pricing and Supply Chain, Northrop Grumman. "The awardees demonstrated superior business support and made outstanding contributions to our service-disabled veterans' outreach, mentor-protege programs, Historically Black Colleges/Universities goals, AbilityOne program, and other initiatives."

In 2013, Northrop Grumman contracted $6.9 billion to a broad base of approximately 9,500 suppliers. More than 36 percent of Northrop Grumman procurement spending goes to small businesses and women- or minority-owned firms. The company has met and exceeded the 23 percent small business statutory goals for more than 10 consecutive years and has received numerous awards and recognition for support of socio-economic business programs.

Earlier this year, Northrop Grumman was named "Corporation of the Year" by the Maryland/District of Columbia Minority Supplier Development Council for demonstrating exceptional strength in areas critical to maintaining a solid minority supplier development process. The company was also recently ranked the number one aerospace and defense (A&D) company in the 2013 Gartner Supply Chain Top 25: A&D report.
