(NYSE: ELLI), a leading provider of enterprise level, on-demand automated solutions for the residential mortgage industry, today announced that Angela Cheek, vice president and counsel of product compliance, has been named one of HousingWire’s 2013 Women of Influence.
This is the third year HousingWire has put out the list that honors female professionals from within the mortgage banking industry. According to the publication, the process to select the 20 women recognized this year centered on their direct leadership of a specific company initiative within the past 12 months, and how they help drive success.
“It was more difficult than ever before to select a group of women for this year’s honors,” said Jacob Gaffney, executive editor of HousingWire. “We received more applications than ever before, while also making the decision to limit the number of honorees—as well as requiring that this year’s Influential Women not repeat from one year ago.”
Ms. Cheek works closely with the CFPB and other regulators and leads a team of employees, as well as outside law firms, to enhance Ellie Mae’s products and services, including Encompass Compliance Service™, in order to help clients comply with federal, state and local regulations. For 20 years, she has focused her career on operations, lending, real estate and business law, working primarily with financial institutions, mortgage lenders and technology companies.
“This year, Angela led the team responsible for making Ellie Mae’s award-winning technology compliance ready for upcoming regulations, like Ability-to-Repay and Qualified Mortgage Standards,” said Jonathan Corr, president and chief operating officer of Ellie Mae. “We congratulate Angela for all of her contributions, not only to our company, but also to the entire housing industry.”
