PowerSecure International, Inc. (NYSE:POWR) today announced that it has completed the engineering, construction and installation of a new three megawatt solar farm for QVC at its subsidiary’s (QVC Rocky Mount, Inc.) Distribution Center in Rocky Mount, NC.
This project, which consists of more than 11,500 panels on 11 acres, will supplement an existing system that PowerSecure Solar helped construct in 2008 and brings the total production capacity at the facility to four megawatts.
“PowerSecure Solar delivered outstanding engineering and project execution to support QVC’s commitment to conserving energy by implementing sustainable solutions and reducing waste,” said Bill Stanulis, QVC Rocky Mount Distribution Center general manager.
Combined with the pre-existing solar capacity on the site, this facility now conserves enough kilowatt-hours of energy to reduce CO
2 emissions that are equivalent to 458,766 gallons of gasoline, based on US EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies.
“Our solar business continues to deliver value for customers like QVC, utilities and investors as we leverage our expanded design and construction capabilities in this space and look to integrate our solar expertise into microgrid and firm solar distributed generation projects,” said Sidney Hinton, chief executive officer of PowerSecure.
