(Nasdaq:CBF) today announced that Zahid Afzal has been hired as the Company's Chief Technology and Operations Executive. Mr. Afzal joins Capital Bank after more than 27 years with leading global and regional financial services and technology companies.
Most recently, he was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Huntington Bank, where his responsibilities included information technology, business operations, electronic channels, M&A integration and change management. Prior to this position, he served Bank of America as Senior Vice President and CIO of the Consumer and Small Business Banking segment. Previously Mr. Afzal held various leadership positions with Citicorp, Broadslate Networks, an internet access and data communications provider, and MCI Communications. Among other technology industry recognition and awards, Mr. Afzal has been included in ComputerWorld's Top 100 CIOs and in CIO.com's CIO 100.
