About the Texas Food Bank Network
Our mission is to lead a unified effort for a hunger-free Texas. Our network includes twenty-one regional food banks – one in every major city. TFBN member food banks distributed nearly 300 million pounds of food in 2012, nourishing over three million Texans through a statewide network of 3,900 soup kitchens, food pantries and local agencies. This food was sourced from generous individuals, corporate partners, farmers, benevolent groups and taxpayer-funded programs at the local, state and federal levels. TFBN assists its members by coordinating disaster relief efforts, engaging in public policy advocacy, and managing partnerships with state agencies and statewide organizations. TFBN also helps our food banks build the capacity to end hunger by managing statewide food sourcing and purchasing programs, offering expert technical assistance and training, and spreading food bank innovations and best practices statewide.
