Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has appointed
Marquett Smith president of the company's
Virginia region which is headquartered in
Howard County, Maryland. He is responsible for sales, operations, network expansion and customer service for the region that includes about 3,000 employees.
Mike Maiorana, who has been named senior vice president of Verizon Enterprise Solutions.
Smith began his career at Verizon Wireless in 2002, serving as director of the company's customer service center in
Laurel, MD. Over the past decade, he has received several promotions and held various management positions of increasing responsibility in sales, customer service and corporate communications. He has twice won Verizon Wireless' President's Cabinet Award for sales excellence and has received the prestigious Verizon Chairman's Award for outstanding business leadership.
Prior to joining Verizon Wireless, Smith worked for Sprint and held executive positions in service and sales with
America Online, Cybercash and Interliant.
A native Washingtonian, Smith earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from
Radford University and completed the Executive Management Program at
MIT Sloan School of Management. He is a member of the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Economic Club.
