In an unprecedented and unique collaboration, TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE:AMTD) and international commissioned poet, Azure Antoinette, have come together to inspire employees to be more creative, engaged, and make a lasting impact within their community.
Called “the Maya Angelou of the millennial generation,” Azure Antoinette is a poet, spoken word artist whose work focuses on the intrinsic value of humanity—values shared by TD Ameritrade. As a poet, Antoinette has been commissioned to write for former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, the Girl Scouts of America, and The Documentary Group. In 2012, Antoinette was included in
Forbes’ “100 Most Powerful Women in the World” issue in a special section entitled “Women Helping Women.”
In her first official event in association with TD Ameritrade Antoinette will be speaking on Tuesday, October 8 in Jersey City, New Jersey at the company’s conference entitled, “Community Engagement & Girls’ Education: Moving Forward.” Antoinette will be sharing her own story of education and empowerment while urging employees to think about the profound impact they could have within their communities. Through Antoinette’s work, TD Ameritrade seeks to bridge the divide between finance and art. First invited to speak for the company in the spring of 2013, Antoinette was attracted to the financial institution and the core values of the company, which focus on the integrity and value of their associates and clients.
“At the heart of TD Ameritrade’s vision statement is a committed interest in the dignity and value of humanity,” said Antoinette. “As an investment firm with a strong history, TD Ameritrade has truly demonstrated their commitment to their community, their integrity in business and practice, and their desire to empower their employees and clients. I am honored to be working with an institution who understands not only the value of investing in financial stability but human equity.”
