American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, today announced Dr. Mark LeChevallier, Director of Innovation and Environmental Stewardship, has been appointed to the Water Environment Research Foundation’s (WERF) Research Council for a three year term beginning January 1, 2014.
WERF Research Council members serve as technical advisors that provide oversight and coordination across the entire research portfolio, identifying and developing new research initiatives, and making recommendations to the Board for funding allocations among research areas. The first meeting will take place in February.
Dr. LeChevallier received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Microbiology from Oregon State University and received his doctorate in Microbiology from Montana State University. The Water Environment Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed in 1989, is America's leading independent scientific research organization dedicated to wastewater and stormwater issues. Founded in 1886, American Water is the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company.
