Dell SecureWorks Expands FireEye Malware Protection Systems

Dell SecureWorks, an industry leader in information security services, is expanding its support for FireEye Malware Protection Systems™ (MPS) with new services that provide contextual threat analysis of FireEye alerts. FireEye is a leader in advanced threat protection. Its MPS solution gives organizations an additional layer of protection against spear-phishing attacks, Web attacks and other obfuscated attacks typically used in targeted, stealthy and highly-sophisticated Advanced Persistent Threat campaigns.

Dell SecureWorks will monitor and manage FireEye appliances, and provide customers with valuable insight into the associated malware and the context behind the detected attacks. Security analysts will correlate FireEye events with FireEye and non-FireEye threats to give customers insight into where the attack is coming from, what the potential intent of the attackers is, where this type of attack has previously been seen, and what actions customers can take to protect themselves from similar attacks.

“From monitoring 3,500 customers around the world, we have access to threat data from a broad range of security products, and as a result have a repository of over 1 billion threat indicators,” said Jon Ramsey, Chief Technology Officer, Dell SecureWorks. “Individual organizations typically don’t have this vast view into the attack landscape since they can’t see outside their own networks.”

When Dell SecureWorks security analysts see FireEye alerts, they will email affected customers, who then can choose which FireEye alerts they would like to further analyze.

“FireEye technology combined with intelligence from the Dell SecureWorks Counter Threat Unit (CTU) provide deep insight into threats,” continued Ramsey. “When FireEye uncovers known and previously unknown malware, the CTU analyzes it, provides customers with threat context, and helps organizations formulate and execute the best response.”
