BUFFALO, N.Y., Sept. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cleveland BioLabs, Inc. (Nasdaq:CBLI) and Incuron, LLC, a joint venture between CBLI and Bioprocess Capital Ventures today announced a poster presentation at the 2013 American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Annual Meeting held September 18-21, 2013 in Chicago, IL.
Katerina Gurova, MD, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Oncology, Department of Cell Stress Biology, Roswell Park Cancer Institute will present a poster titled, "Level of SSRP1 in cancer as a prognostic marker of aggressive disease," on September 20. SSRP1 is a subunit of the Facilitates Chromatin Transcription (FACT) complex involved in chromatin remodeling. FACT was found to be an attractive target and marker of poorly differentiated aggressive cancers based on its role as an accelerator of oncogenic transformation through selective chromatin remodeling of genes involved in cancer stress response and maintenance of pluripotent cell state.
FACT is the molecular target of CBL0137, a drug in development by Incuron. The first patient was recently dosed in a multi-center Phase 1 trial evaluating intravenous administration of CBL0137 in patients with metastatic or unresectable advanced solid cancers and lymphomas in the U.S. An ongoing Phase 1 study of oral administration of CBL0137 in patients with advanced solid tumors that are resistant or refractory to standard of care treatment is being conducted in the Russian Federation. For more information about ASCP, please refer to: http://www.ascp.org .
