Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and ABC Instrumentación Analítica today announced that they have signed a definitive agreement for Agilent to acquire assets from ABCIA. Privately held ABCIA, based in Mexico City, is a leading distributor of analytical solutions, including Agilent’s chemical analysis and life science products.
The acquisition is expected to be completed on Oct. 1, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial details were not disclosed.
Once the acquisition is final, former ABCIA customers in Mexico can look forward to an integrated sales and service portfolio directly from Agilent.
ABCIA was established in 1986 as a distributor of Hewlett-Packard Company’s analytical solutions. ABCIA became an Agilent distributor when HP spun off Agilent in 1999. ABCIA provides sales, application support and customer training for Agilent products such as gas and liquid chromatographs, mass spectrometers, atomic and molecular spectroscopy systems, and bioanalyzers.“Agilent and ABCIA have had a strong partnership for more than two decades,” said Sylvia Escobar, vice president in charge of field operations for Agilent’s chemical analysis business in the Americas. “As a unified team, we will provide a better customer experience by streamlining processes and delivering top-tier service in a consistent way.
