Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced today that Foster Wheeler Energy Limited (FWEL), the UK subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group, has won the prestigious Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Management System Audit Award from the British Safety Council.
The award follows a Five Star Audit, in which the British Safety Council reviewed the overall health and safety management system of FWEL’s operation in Middlesbrough, Teesside, in the north east of England.
The internationally recognized British Safety Council Five Star Audit is a comprehensive, independent and quantified evaluation of an organization’s entire health and safety management system, and is used by organizations world-wide to benchmark their systems against health and safety best practice.
The audit measures performance against key safety management indicators, identifies areas of positive/negative practice and provides a structured approach to continuous improvement, resulting in an overall numerical score of the organization’s performance. In 2013, the audit also increased its focus on safety culture, leadership and employee wellbeing. Organizations are rated from one to five, five being the top rating, to indicate the effectiveness of their health and safety programs. FWEL’s Teesside Office achieved a five-star rating, with a world-class overall audited score of 98.01 percent.
