MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As part of its commitment to customer service, First Tennessee Bank has developed an additional resource to help customers understand fees and features associated with checking accounts. The new Account Service Fee Guide consolidates checking account information into an easy-to-use format that incorporates industry guidelines recommended by The Pew Charitable Trusts, a public policy organization. First Tennessee Bank is a subsidiary of First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN).
The one-page guide summarizes information provided to customers when checking accounts are opened and serves as a quick reference for potential customers who want to compare the various types of checking products offered by First Tennessee and other banks.
"Transparency and education are key components of the service we've provided First Tennessee customers for nearly 150 years," said Dave Miller, head of consumer banking at First Tennessee. "This simple, one-page reference will be a useful tool for our customers and demonstrates First Tennessee's promise to be the best at serving our customers, one opportunity at a time."
First Tennessee and Pew worked together to make the checking fee information easier to understand. "Too often, the terms, fees and conditions of consumer checking accounts are hard to find, exposing customers to high, unexpected costs," said Susan Weinstock, director of Pew's safe checking research. "We applaud the banks that provide their checking accountholders with critical information in a clear format that will make important terms easier for current and future consumers to understand."
The service fee guides are available at First Tennessee branch locations and online at
