, July 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to a tip from a ClassifiedRide user, a ClassifiedRide employee was saved from purchasing a scam vehicle listed on ClassifiedRide.com. The ClassifiedRide employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, comments: "I saw a great looking Acura for sale for under
and thought it would be a perfect vehicle for my daughter. The seller wanted me to wire
and I was about to make the transfer when a user reported the listing as being fraudulent. I am beyond grateful and a little embarrassed."
The ClassifiedRide fraud and spam prevention team (SFP Program) does its best to review submitted material as an accommodated benefit to its users, but greatly appreciates users who take the time to report suspicious listings. The SFP program asks users to report any suspicious listings to
or call the customer service number, 1-800-355-8312, directly.
The scam in this case consisted of an attractive-looking Acura for a price well below market value. In these cases, when the buyer contacts the seller, the seller reports he or she is outside of the country but can arrange for the car to be shipped upon receipt of payment, most often via wire transfer or bank-to-bank transfer. When the money is transferred and collected, the seller disappears and the buyer is out of the money.
"Thanks to one of our users, one of our own employee's was saved from being a victim of a scam. This just shows it can happen to anybody, especially when they let their guard down,"
, director of the FSP program states.
