(Nasdaq:EBIX), a leading international supplier of On-Demand software and E-commerce services to the insurance industry, today announced that its subsidiary Ebix Latin America has executed a contract with Telefônica/Vivo mobile telecommunications company, to provide health content to its large client base in Brazil, using Ebix's A.D.A.M. Health Content Exchange.
Telefônica/Vivo is the largest telecommunications company in Brazil, with more than 90 million active client users, 76 million of those in the mobile operation alone, which holds the largest market share in the segment (29.56%) within the Brazilian market context. In 2011, with the acquisition of Vivo, Telefônica established itself as the largest integrated operator in Brazil, both by number of clients as well as by size of revenues. The company belongs to the Spanish group Telefónica, one of the largest landline and mobile Telecom operators in Europe, besides being the largest in Spain and Latin America.
This opportunity came about because Telefônica/Vivo worldwide has started a new business called "eHealth Self Care" to provide health assistance and complementary services to their millions of clients. This division is being structured worldwide since 2011.Based on conservative estimates, the deployment is expected to be initiated with a projection of up to 1.2 million unique users on a monthly basis. However, this figure is expected to grow sizably as additional millions of unique visitors get access to the eHealth Portal in Brazil, in addition to the strong potential for subsequent adoption of the Ebix Portal solution by other Latin American and European countries where Telefónica is present.
