TOANO, Va., July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lumber Liquidators (NYSE: LL), the largest specialty retailer of hardwood flooring in North America, has launched a blog to raise awareness of charities that benefit from its philanthropic program, Lay It Forward. Layitforward.lumberliquidators.com tells the inspirational stories of organizations that Lumber Liquidators has supported with product and/or financial donations.
The guiding principle of Lay It Forward is supporting organizations that will benefit generations to come, a vision that also drives the enduring quality of Lumber Liquidators' products. Installing a hardwood floor is an investment by homeowners – it lasts for years and grows in character as an element of a home's beauty. By sustaining the Lay It Forward program now, Lumber Liquidators believes its investment will have a similar and lasting impact.
Robert M. Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "Since our founding, giving back to the communities we serve has been a core principle of Lumber Liquidators. The inspiration for Lay It Forward comes from our customers. They choose our hardwood flooring as a long-term investment in their homes. In turn, we give back by investing in charities dedicated to supporting communities for years to come."In the last five years alone, Lumber Liquidators has donated more than 300,000 square feet of flooring to non-profit organizations, schools, arts facilities, community groups and more. Tom Sullivan, Founder and Chairman, remarked, "Every day, Lumber Liquidators' products and service help people improve their homes. Lay It Forward takes that to the next level by supporting organizations that improve communities. This program is a great source of pride for me and the entire Lumber Liquidators family." One of the benefiting organizations is Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides programs to strengthen families in need. To date, Lumber Liquidators has donated 250,000 square feet of flooring to more than 50 Ronald McDonald Houses. The National Wood Flooring Association gave Lumber Liquidators a 2013 Community Service Award in recognition of this particular partnership.
