July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cimarex Energy Co. (NYSE: XEC) today announced that
Francis B. Barron has joined the company as Senior Vice President – General Counsel. "Francis's industry experience and proven advisory skills dovetail nicely with our team," said
Tom Jorden, Chief Executive Officer. "We are pleased to have Francis join Cimarex Energy."
Mr. Barron comes to Cimarex from Bill Barrett Corporation where he has served as Executive Vice President—General Counsel since
February 2009 and as Secretary since
March 2004. He served as their Senior Vice President—General Counsel from
March 2004 until
February 2009 and as Chief Financial Officer from
November 2006 until
March 2007. Previously, Mr. Barron was a partner at the
Denver, Colorado office of the law firm of Patton Boggs LLP as well as a partner at Bearman Talesnick & Clowdus Professional Corporation. Mr. Barron's practice included corporate, securities and business law for publicly traded oil and gas companies. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the
University of Denver and attained his J.D. from the
University of Colorado.
In addition, Cimarex announced the retirement of
Thomas A. Richardson, who has served as Vice President - General Counsel for the company since August 2008. Mr. Richardson has been associated with Cimarex for over fifteen years as both a valued employee and as outside counsel while partner at the
Denver-based law firm of
Holme Roberts & Owen (now Bryan Cave HRO).
