(NYSE: VG), a leading provider of communication services connecting people through cloud-connected devices worldwide, today announced that it has been granted two new patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office: U.S. Pat. No. 8,483,210, "Method and Apparatus for Voice Traffic Management in a Data Network," and U.S. Pat. No. 8,478,548, "Apparatus and Method for Automated Inventory Tracking and Authentication."
The '210 patent, issued today, relates to a device that transmits both voice and non-voice communications such as a VoIP (Voice-over-Internet Protocol) telephone adapter. The patented technology maintains the voice quality on calls by automatically adjusting the device's bandwidth.

The '548 patent, issued on
, relates to technology that allows network operators to verify that devices connected to their networks, such as VoIP telephone adapters, were distributed through authorized channels.
Vonage has been granted nine patents so far in 2013. The company now has 27 U.S. patents and nearly 180 U.S. patent applications pending, along with many foreign patents and pending applications in jurisdictions worldwide.
