Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, announces the Regal App has surpassed a million downloads since its debut in 2012. The app has also been upgraded with several innovative features, including new features for Regal Crown Club members.
“Regal is very excited to cross the 1 million download milestone,” says Misty Cunningham, vice president of digital, loyalty and promotions for Regal Entertainment Group. “Our audiences are among the most loyal moviegoers in the industry, and this enhanced app offers added benefits every time they go to a movie.”
The Regal App now partners with NCM Media Networks to integrate FirstLook Sync, designed to sync with the cinema experience during the Regal FirstLook pre-show presentation. Patrons who activate Regal FirstLook Sync before the movie begins can enjoy enhanced content, special offers, games and more, synced right to their phone. Regal FirstLook Sync also provides a courtesy message that reminds guests to turn off their cell-phone prior to the start of the movie trailers.
Regal Entertainment Group is also hosting a promotional giveaway in celebration of the new mobile applications. Any moviegoer purchasing a ticket through the Regal App to Universal Studio’s new film, Despicable Me 2, until July 16 will be entered for a chance to win a free, tablet computer. Five lucky winners will have the opportunity to pick a tablet of their choice if selected. Through Regal FirstLook Sync, fans of the movie can also download the official Despicable Me: Minion Rush game from Gameloft and get exclusive game clues. Despicable Me: Minion Rush is now available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices.
“What better way to celebrate over 1 million downloads than to offer a giveaway to our loyal audience?” stated Ken Thewes, chief marketing officer of Regal Entertainment Group. “Offering five tablet computers to our loyal fans is a small way of showing our gratitude for their continued patronage and their interest in knowing what’s going on at Regal through our phone app.”
